OUR HISTORY
Macdonald Steel was founded in 1970 as a steel merchant operation in Durban, South Africa. The company quickly gained a reputation for innovation and tenacity, and in 1996 it was renamed Macdonald Steel. Under the leadership of Cecil Reddy, the company diversified into secondary manufacturing divisions and continued to provide innovative products and services to its customers.
Macdonald Steel is now a leading steel and engineering company in Southern Africa, and it continues to provide the same level of expertise and service that its customers have come to expect for over 50 years.

Kiran Reddy
Shareholder
Kiran is an MBA graduate from Warwick Business School in Coventry, UK. He holds dual roles in the firm as Chief Executive Officer and Chief Marketing Officer. Kiran brings over 15-years experience in marketing and operational strategy to the Group. Kiran’s previous experience includes successful venture capital startups in the field of hazardous environment robotics as well as EXCO positions across the advertising and aviation sectors. Kiran aims to globalise the approach of all divisions within the Macdonald Steel Group.
Shaun Momberg
Head of Sales
With a career spanning over 15 years with various corporate companies, Shaun Momberg’s strength and success has always been at scaling Commercial Sales environments and ensuring competitive sustainability. Shaun graduated from Stellenbosch University and is currently completing his BCom Business Management, part time. Shaun’s enthusiasm and motivational nature, together with his practical experience, has equipped him with the necessary competencies to successfully take charge as Head of Sales for Macdonald Steel.
